Well the bags are packed, dinner is ordered to pick up on our way to the airport

We are staying at a hotel near the airport because of our fear of getting snowbound and not getting to the plane Sat. in time with the snow squalls way out here in the boonies. I will be back to blog-surfing next Sunday the 4th. Since Super Bowl is on that day, I think I may have ALL day to visit!! (I'm one of those lucky women, hubby will unpack and do all the laundry) pretty spoiled, I know....If you were kind enough to visit for Photo Parade, please leave a comment and I will visit all of the blogs!

How in the hell do you pack 35 outfits, tops, bottoms, dresses, shoes, underwear, ect. in a piece of luggage that weighs under 50 lbs?

First off, I don't think it's even possible to pack for a week cruise in ANYTHING that would end up weighing no more than 50 pounds! I think my bag weighs 10 pounds empty..in fact, I am sure of it! Ok, it IS the largest piece of luggage you've probably ever seen...I could fit Matt AND Amy Roloff in this bag, WITH their entire wardrobes! I'm crabby, I'm tired and I just have had it with Airline Security Procedures! I want the days when I could lock my bag, put my "important" personal stuff in my bag, and NOT worry about it. I spent the better part of this afternoon ironing...a thing I DO NOT DO but once a year, or for going on a trip...In fact, when I am shopping, if it says, Dry Clean, Hand wash...or anything but machine washable & machine or air dryable, I just don't buy it...because I just DON'T IRON! I have my original iron from my wedding shower...36 years ago! and I bet it hasn't been used 100 times...man, they just don't make shit like they used to...which will send me off on another tirade...about things that don't "last" like they did in the "old" days..i.e. washing machines, vacuum cleaners, ect..
well I am off to sit on this bag and see if it will close...............and to find ziplock baggies for my underwear, my bras, my pantyhose...ewww I just do NOT want to think of some Security guy handling my personables!!

I'm getting excited! My cruise is only 16 days away....

and I just bought tickets for 2 shore excursions...one in St. Thomas, a catamaran and the second, another catamaran, only with Champagne and cheeses/snacks...and a trip to the nude beach in St. Marteen. Now, this isnt my idea of a fun time...but hubby, bless his soul, has to see some naked women soon (it doesnt happen at my house). ..I think he's becoming "a dirty old man" in his late 50's....We also were able to confirm transports from the airport to the docks (about a 40 min trip)...we are fortunate enough to get the last 2 seats on a shuttle that leaves from Ft. Lauderdale right after we get our luggage...We have our doubts about getting back from the docks to FLL now though...big doubts...because it is the day before the Super Bowl...well, by the time I have my week vacation I will not even care about the "end" of it...lol..It's already been decided, next Twins Cruise ( will be III), its just going to be me and Bobbie....those two Johns can stay home and mope...
Bobbie and I are hosting a really fun scavenger hunt onboard for the twins and their families...we got some gifts donated by Wrigley (you know, Doublemint Gum)...I thought I would share the list with you...(of course, you know, some of the stuff has to be near impossible to have on the ship.)
A pair of dice
A person in a 2 piece bathing suit
2 umbrellas
2 $2.00 bills, or 2 Canadian "Loonies"
A quarter from Minnesota
2 queens from a deck of cards (since twin and I were the Queens of the 2004 Twins Days Festival)
a pear
a pair of green socks
a pair of binoculars
two sticks of Doublemint Gum
A set of twins Drivers Licenses
Page 2 from a printed paper
2 pairs of sunglasses
the word Two on a piece of clothing
2 AA batteries
2 tea bags....(Tea for two)
a #2 pencil
A whole unopened pack of Doublemint Gum
2 green crayons
2 people with a birthday while onboard the ship this week, proof required.
Salt & Pepper shakers
A duce of Hearts from a deck of cards
So, like I said, this is just some of the list...have you got any ideas for us to add? something else that might be too (2) hard to have?? please offer any suggestions

Saturday PHOTO~Memories

MEMORIES

So are you old enough to remember these? SPOOLIES!!! Oh my gosh, with 5 girls (all within 5 yrs of each other), my mom used these on all of us! Do you remember them??? At least we could sleep with these in, not like the old "brush & picks" we had to endure in my teens.

OHHH I AM SO PISSED AT

Carnival Cruise Line, I could spit nails!!! I am to leave on Carnival's Triump ship the end of January for a week....been planning this cruise for 1 1/2 years! It's the 2nd TwinsCruise....as some of you that know me, I am very involved with TwinsDays, held in Twinsburg,Ohio, each and every 1st weekend of Aug. ...I should be! My twin and I were the 2004 Festival Queens (see more at my Geocities site here:) http://www.geocities.com/powerstwins
But I digress.....as I stated, I am totally ticked off with Carnival! This will be my 15th cruise, so I am fairly well traveled in the particulars of cruises and cruise lines. This trip was arranged by UniGlobeVIP travel in Ohio, by a very special half of the Nagel twins, Steve & Jeff...and We have known for a very long time that our flight into Fort Lauderdale needed to have "transfers" arranged to get to Carnival' s Embarkment docks in Miami. So, hubby and I prepaid that fee when we finalized our cruise payments. We were so lucky to find Spirit Air from Detroit, for ridiculously cheap rates, But we also discovered we were coming back into port on the Saturday BEFORE the SuperBowl. There's the problem! The NFL has employed all of the fleets of cabs, limos , buses and shuttles, and will have none to our avail when we come into port at 8:00 am early morning in Feb.! I called 21 companies last night, all day today, and was told the same thing, "no problem getting you to the docks on Jan 27th, but NO transportation is available on that day in Feb. to get back to Fort Lauderdale airport." I finally got a hold of a company that said there will be pickups at the airport and transfers to the docks for a nice TRIPLE inflated price because "of the Superbowl"... I was on the fence, between a rock and a hard place, screwed and f*ucked....all without a "Thank you mam"....So thats how I am spending my gambling money, an extra hundred for an overblown ride to get to a cruise I have already paid more than enough for! My first call was to Carnival, of course, and do you know what they said? "We're terribly sorry for the inconvience, but we have no help to give you", so pretty much "tough shit". My biggest complaint is that WE CAN NOT BE THE ONLY 2 passengers flying from Detroit, to Ft. Lauderdale airport to get to the docks ( about a 40 minute ride) for this cruise!!! What in the hell are we supposed to do??? I guess I know how my Saturday will be spent.....and I will be reporting on the lame jack ass companies who can't see past the almightly dollar, to take care of people stranded at the airports...you can be sure, I will take names and I WILL BLOG names of these companies!!!...can you tell I'm a bit peeved???

Wednesday with mom

Once a week for the last 2 months, I give my younger sister a break and go and "mom-sit". I dont want her to know that I am enjoying it as much as mom and Grandpa Al and Mary Lou do though...lol..can you imagine? I enjoy taking my cross-stitching and my special new table lamp (with the magnifying over head light) and sitting quietly sewing away the hours. Mom has alzhiemers, and she lives alone, but we have a wonderful "step-daddy" who makes sure she eats and gets out of bed, Al, mom's boyfriend of 32 years. Al dosent live at mom's, but he stays with her so much, it seems like it. My mom-sitting helps give them a break. I just finished my 14th baby crib blanket for my twin sisters son & daughter in law's new grandson, born Dec. 26th ,Aedhan Owen...want a peek?
Of course, this isnt the colors I did this one in, because it's sitting on the table waiting to go to the post office tomorrow, already wrapped, I had to use the package photo. Now I need to go and pack a bag for mom's...I need to take something from the freezer and cook for her tomorrow...I really hate cooking anymore...I'm just bored and tired of it! lol...but mom loves the company, so I do what I must...Crazy hubby intends to go and golf tomorrow morning! HELLOOO??? It's frickin WINTER here in Michigan...but on the good side, there isnt any snow on the ground right now...besides, its supposed to be a balmy 45° here tomorrow.......AFTERNOON!...

Yawn....lazy bones today....

Myspace Graphics

It's Jan 1st 2007....We got in after 2:00 am and didnt get to bed til 3:00am, so I am just now getting up at noon! ...lol..I'm making cheese Fondue and bread for lunch and then I am going to bingo...yah!!! ALONE time!!....2 years ago, I went on New Years Day and won $2317.00 big ones...can I repeat that win??? Let me tell ya, the last month has been "bailing" one son out of jail, court costs, car insurance & tabs for said kid...and we've depeleted any cash flow I had hidden...Ok, when kids reach their mid 30's, parents should not be helping them financially...but, he's my kid, always will be, and I can't and won't see him fail yet again with his decisions...but man, it does hurt the heart, since I thought I brought my sons up differently....life just sucks sometimes, ya know? I've been depressed and feeling stress pain since Thanksgiving night when the shit hit the fan...so, bingo might just be the ticket for some "me" time...
